World AIDS Day 2013 - Getting To Zero

Image
So the 2013 World AIDS Day is over, but this does not mean that the fight has stopped, it still continues. Friends Africa, a pan African organisation was able to test over 3000 people over the week, as part of efforts to ramp up awareness and stop new infections. They also organised a football game that saw ex Nigerian soccer stars, musicians, comedians and Nollywood actors playing together in an effort to stop stigmatization. Hundreds gathered at a mini stadium in Lagos to watch the soccer match, cheering for their favourites, while others visited the test centres set up near the pitch for people to check their status. Saka of "I don port go MTN "  missed his penalty and continuously ported from team entertainment to team ex super eagles, very funny. Yep, It's true, the online shopping thing is also a big one in Nigeria. There are so many of them. You can sit in the comfort of your homes and offices and order things from clothes, shoes, phones, laptops to food stuff, yes food stuff, you heard me right.....and voila.....it is delivered right to your door step. The coolest part is that you can pay on delivery, so for those of us who like to feel stuff before buying, no wahala at all. We are sure getting there, slow, but steady. Moringa, Food Supplement...Money

We recently did this story on Moringa. Known as the "Tree of Life," it is fast becoming a cash crop in Nigeria as people are devoting hectares of land just to cultivate the moringa plant. A researcher at the Yaba college of Technology is currently working on how the plant can cure diabetes and cancer, yeah, we need that break through. This particular farm we visited in Abeokuta produces soap, hair cream, body cream, tea bags, oil, powder and so much more, and I got some for myself. For now, all I can tell you is that it is a good daily supplement, whether you are taking the seeds or the powder. And for those who may want to go into the cultivation, its a cool venture because people are getting more aware of the medicinal benefit of the plant, and ofcourse, every thing about the plant is money as nothing is a waste. But don't forget that you have to pass some basic NAFDAC requirement for you to process for consumption. Please click on the link below to see the video
