Solar powered freezers anyone?

This is one story that is very dear to my heart because it shows that in Nigeria, we have a lot of resources at our disposal to help us live a better life, and even become an export giant.

So, Nigerian solar entrepreneur Femi Oye has developed a way to recycle old freezers and turn them into solar powered freezers to help Nigerians grappling with power outages. He collects discarded freezers or buy used ones from dealers and refurbishes and fits them with solar gadgets.

Oye said it took him seven years of researching and designing before he was finally able to launch the prototype ion 2016.

Customers have the option of either buying or renting the solar freezers.

Femi Oye owns Go-Solar-Africa, a clean energy solutions organization that has a presence in 6 African countries, the UK and the US. The freezers have also attracted interest outside the country.

Despite being Africa's top oil producer, Nigeria's power output is a tenth of South Africa's, for a population triple the size, leaving millions without reliable power supply.
